Our little adventure in Cedar has ended and we are back at blessed Herry Hill and oddly, it is good to be back. As much as I hate to say it, it's starting to feel like home. It's a love/hate relationship really. The buildings are ancient and ridiculously tilted because of severe settling; so much so that the door to my laundry closet won't shut and I fear that Kennedy is learning to walk at a slant. It is the essence of student living, if only you knew, but I admit I have a little soft spot in my heart for this place. The friends and memories we have made here will become essential pieces to our "remember-when-stories" after we are grown and gone, I'm sure of it. One of these days I will dedicate a whole post to Herry Hill and you can all partake of its ghetto goodness.
Hm, maybe this will be easier if I break it down by person...
Malea
I ran my first half marathon! I'm so proud of myself that I hung pictures at work to remind me how awesome I am. Just kidding. Well, about the awesome part. I do have pictures though and it makes me smile to look at them. I've decided that accomplishing things that are hard is a matter of will (and prayer). I'm pretty sure that my body was not prepared to run 13 miles but my brain was already set on finishing. A mind over matter phenomenon if you ask me.
Travis
...is back in the whirlwind called work. Which means we are back to a daily 6am-9pm stretch of not seeing each other. It is another aspect of our lives that I know one day I will appreciate for the life lessons it taught, but for now it just sucks. I have to say though; I love Trav even more after watching him work so hard day-in and day-out. He never complains AND he does the dishes AND he gives Kennedy hair do's and I could go on for a dozen more ANDs. He really is such a good, good man.
Little Miss Kennedy
Oh my dear sweet Kennedy. She is a big ball of sunshine in my life. We celebrated her first birthday last month with a bbq and a trip to the zoo. I made a giraffe cake (which she was more interested in squishing between her fingers than eating)and cupcakes to match. I'm pretty sure her life will be accompanied through out with a giraffe theme. Thanks to Travis' infamous attachment to a stuffed giraffe when he was little, the whole family (myself included) see's anything giraffe and it automatically becomes a part of Kennedy's collection.
She has a whole bucket of tricks that she will perform if you get her in the right mood. My favorite is the way her bottom lip curls over her top when she tells me what an elephant says. It is the cutest little face. Her bear growl is pretty adorable too; "wow" she says. Oh my goodness I love it. I got a good video of her performing while I was feeding her breakfast once but then made the mistake of letting her hold the camera and it got erased.Darn it.
Here are a few pictures to go a long with the novel you just read. Thank you, by-the-way, for reading it :)
